Chic and edgy.  Color palettes that run from neutrals to vibrant hues. Fabrics of varied textures. Looks that fuse both functionality and high style. Cuts that flatter the feminine figure.  Sophisticated, sleek with sexiness just enough to command attention.

Those are the statements made loud and clear by the country’s top designers featured in this year’s Philippine Fashion Week. The premier and largest fashion event in the country also marked its 21st anniversary this year. Staged every two years by Runway Productions, it is the brainchild of siblings and executive producers Audie and Joey Espino.

This week, take a sneak peek of holiday looks from Pat Santos and Sidney Perez Sio.

PAT SANTOS

He put together his 2017 holiday collection with the mantra, Golden Rule which in fashion means looking your best all the time. Pat addressed the Filipina who is chic and empowered. Metallic skirts, pants and jackets were mixed with sophisticated florals and bold animal prints. Pat was able to pull off awesome pieces crafted from iridescent fabrics for a fresh sense of opulence usually associated with the holidays.

SIDNEY PEREZ SIO

The traditional barong was the driving force behind Sidney’s holiday collection, Dreamy Peacock Misaligns with Suspicious Pluto. He combined sports aesthetics and traditional wear in wearable statement pieces. His colors took off from the stunning beauty of the peacock in cleverly chosen fabrics from linen, cotton, jersey to organza. Sidney’s holiday barong has a loose fit, elongated in form and has exaggerated sleeves.
