Make your home the best summer place for the family. Spice up the season with a summer party with Mom and Dad as honorees. Yes, a joint celebration of Mother’s Day and  Father’s Day.


The Maya Kitchen experts suggest that less is more, so keep the party casual and cozy. You may invite some of your parents’ close friends, relatives or perhaps, just the immediate family.


To make the party more personalized, think of a theme based on colors, a place close to the heart of your parents or their favorite stuff.

Buco Lychee Melon Quencher




3 cups buco juice

1 can (565 gms.) lychee

Flesh of 1 buco, shredded

Flesh of 1 melon, balls or shredded as needed

Natural honey (optional)

Crushed ice



1. In a blender, process together buco juice and lychee until liquefied.

2. Transfer mixture into a pitcher and blend half of shredded buco meat and melon.

3. Sweeten with honey if needed.

4. Serve with crushed ice.

3 pcs. tea bags

3 cups hot water

3 pcs. ripe mangoes

300 ml yogurt

½ cup natural honey

Ice cream yogurt (optional)



1. Steep tea bags in hot water and cool.

2. Set aside flesh of the mangoes.

3. In a blender, process together tea water, mango, yogurt, honey, yogurt ice cream and crushed ice.

4. Serve at once.

Hot Grilled Beef Kebab Skewers



500 gms. ground beef

¼ cup Maya All Purpose Flour

1 whole egg

1 tsp each of garam masala, cumin powder, coriander & all spice

¼ cup wansoy, chopped

Salt & pepper to taste

Ice cream popsicle sticks or wooden skewers


½ cup plain yogurt

¼ cup sour cream

3 to 4 pcs. garlic cloves

1 pc. small white onion, grilled

½ pc. medium-sized cucumber, seeded and coarsely chopped

1 tsp. cumin

Salt & pepper to taste



1. Mix all the ingredients for beef kebab until well blended.

2. Get a handful of the mixture and form into logs. Pierce into wooden skewers.

3. Chill for an hour before grilling.

4. To make the sauce: In a blender, process all the ingredients for the sauce.

5. Serve beef kebabs with sauce.  Yield: 18 to 20 pieces




Sesame Seeds Crusted Shrimp Crab Roll

Sesame Seeds Crusted Shrimp Crab Roll



200 gms. shrimps, peeled & deveined

1 pc. medium-sized onion, finely chopped

½ cup spring onions, finely chopped

1 pc. egg

¼ cup Maya Cornstarch

1 to 2 tbsps. sesame oil

20 pcs. crab sticks or as needed

20 slices loaf bread, remove crust

2 pcs. eggs

Sesame seeds, as needed

Salt & pepper to taste

Oil for frying



1. In a food processor, blend in shrimps, onions, half of spring onions, egg, cornstarch, sesame oil, salt and pepper.

2. Process for a minute until mixture becomes a paste.

3. Transfer shrimp mixture to a bowl and fold in remaining spring onions. Set aside.

4. Roll out one slice bread using a rolling pin. Spread shrimp mixture on top of bread, leaving ¼-inch allowance on all sides of bread.

5. Lay across crab sticks then roll up.

6. Dip in beaten egg then coat with sesame seeds until fully covered.

7. Chill in the fridge for 15 to 20 minutes to firm up before frying.

8. Best served with chili sauce.

2 packs (200 gms.) Maya Chocolate
Hotcake Mix

Cream filling:

1 tbsp. gelatin powder

2 tbsps. cold water

3 tbsps. hot water

¾ cup whipping cream

½ cup condensed milk

½ cup blueberry pie filling or frozen blueberries

Sprinkles (optional)



1. Preheat oven to 350⁰F/177⁰C. Grease and line four 7×7-inch square pans. Set aside.

2. Prepare hotcake according to package directions; pour and equally divide the mixture into prepared pans.

3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until done. Set aside to cool.

4. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin overcold water for a minute to soften and bloom then add hot water. Keep stirring until gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is clear. Set aside.

5. In another bowl, whip the cream until double. Add in the gelatin mixture and condensed milk. Lightly mix until well blended. Add blueberries into cream mixture and gently fold until well blended.

6. To assemble: Lay one square hotcake on clean, flat serving dish then top and spread half of the cream mixture. Sandwich the cream with another hotcake.

7. Do the same procedure with the remaining hotcakes and cream. Put in the freezer or chiller to firm.
