WE’LL MISS YOU DANNY…
Quiet, unassuming and totally unaffected by the applause his mastery of the fashion sketch pad would always get—that’s Danilo Franco. Huge in talent and totally committed to his craft, he never allowed the glamor of the fashion world to distract him.
Danny will always be remembered for his unique Filipiniana collection that never failed to command attention during fashion shows and the Manila Hotel Santacruzan. He was an exponent of the hand painted barong and to wear a Franco wedding gown has become every bride’s dream.
Danny will be sorely missed–he quietly slipped into the Lord’s embrace on January 31, the day after the 65th Miss Universe pageant. He designed the fabulous white gown worn by Miss Universe Canada, Siera Bearchell (see photo).
He never told us that he was busy with the pageant and apologized for the late submission of his sketches for Design Shop—the collection of fashion sketches he has been doing for Woman Today from Day One. Then weekly, Woman Today and its sister publication, Woman Today Fashion Catalogue became must-haves.
Take a look at the sketches Danny prepared for fashionistas—roomy sleeves, architectural shoulders and longish hemlines are part of his 2017 forecast.
We’ll all miss you, Danny but you will never be forgotten.
TOPS IN FOCUS
The fashion scene will be extremely mobile even
volatile this year; there is unrest in all fronts and
feelings will be stated loud and clear on tops that are
in sharp focus.
This is the year that harks back to the 80s and its remarkable features.
This will be the year when one makes a statement via strong shoulders, roomy sleeves, shoulder-grazing earrings and yes, again, sky-high platforms.
